Grades, Standards and GOST Equivalents
Rebar is supplied to GB 1499.2 (HRB400, HRB500), ASTM A615 (Gr.40, Gr.60), and GOST 34028 (A500C, A500S) – the current Russian standard for reinforcement. For the EAEU market A500C is the standard weldable grade, replacing the older A400/A500S designations, and we prepare certificates per GOST 34028 with the full test report. Diameters from 6 to 40 mm in 6 m and 12 m lengths, with bending and cut-to-length service. HRB500 high-strength rebar reduces steel consumption in columns and frames, and A615 Gr.60 serves international project specifications. The MTC includes chemical composition, mechanical properties, bend tests and, for weldable grades, the carbon equivalent, satisfying the requirements of Russian construction supervision.
Manufacturing Process
Deformed steel bar (rebar) is produced by hot rolling: billets are reheated and rolled through a series of passes on a bar mill, with the final passes forming the characteristic rib pattern that improves bond with concrete. The bars are then cooled on a controlled cooling bed (TempCore process for high-strength grades), straightened and cut to length. Rebar from 6 to 40 mm diameter is supplied in 6 m and 12 m lengths, in HRB400, HRB500 (GB 1499.2), A615 Gr.40/Gr.60 (ASTM) and A500C/A500S (GOST 34028). The ribs, geometry and mechanical properties are tested per the standard: yield and tensile strength, elongation, bend and re-bend tests, and for weldable grades, the carbon equivalent. Each batch is tested and certified with the MTC per EN 10204 3.1, with GOST 34028 cross-reference for the Russian market.
Applications
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Bridges and infrastructure
- Foundations and piles
- Precast concrete elements
- Road and railway construction
Applications in Construction
Rebar is the reinforcement of concrete structures – the most widely used construction material in the region. Russian and Kazakh construction companies use A500C rebar for foundations, frames, columns and slabs of residential and commercial buildings, where weldability and ductility are required by the design codes. Bridges, overpasses and infrastructure projects use high-strength grades for heavy loads. Precast concrete plants consume rebar for panels, piles and beams. The agricultural sector uses rebar in foundations and reinforced structures. Because the Russian market consumes millions of tonnes annually and domestic supply does not cover peak demand, importers and trading companies rely on Chinese supply with GOST 34028 certification. Sino East Steel supplies rebar with the documentation that construction supervision requires.
Quality Control and Testing
Every production stage at the Sino East Steel plant is controlled under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Depending on the product, each batch is tested for chemical composition and mechanical properties (yield strength, tensile strength, elongation), dimensional accuracy, surface quality and, where applicable, hydrostatic pressure, weld seam integrity, zinc coating thickness and paint adhesion. All testing is performed in our laboratory and, when the project requires, witnessed by independent inspectors from SGS, Bureau Veritas or TUV Rheinland. Each shipment is accompanied by a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) per EN 10204 3.1 with heat numbers, so every tonne can be traced back to its production date, heat and chemical analysis. This documentation is prepared in a form accepted by customs authorities in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Belarus, and can be adapted to GOST-based reporting when the buyer’s quality department requires it.
Documents and Compliance for Russia and the EAEU
All goods are supplied with a complete export documentation set prepared for smooth customs clearance in the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Union: Mill Test Certificate (MTC) per EN 10204 3.1 with heat numbers and chemical analysis, Certificate of Origin form ST-1 (which qualifies for duty-free import within the EAEU), commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading or railway consignment note. Where the project is subject to the EAEU Technical Regulations, we support the EAC certification process and provide the technical passport, test reports and conformity documentation required by the importing party. For products supplied against Russian design standards we prepare documentation referencing the relevant GOST equivalents (for example GOST 3262 for galvanized pipe, GOST 8732 for seamless pipe, GOST 30245 for hollow sections), so your quality department and the customs broker receive everything on the day the vessel or train arrives.
Logistics to Russia and Central Asia
Sea freight from Tianjin and Xingang ports to St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Vladivostok and the Baltic ports takes 30-45 days, with container and break-bulk options for project volumes. For Central Asia we ship container rail trains via the Dostyk and Khorgos border crossings to Almaty, Astana, Tashkent, Samarkand, Bishkek, Osh, Dushanbe and Ashgabat in 25-40 days. We quote on FOB Tianjin/Xingang, CFR, CIF, or DAP terms to your warehouse, consolidate several product lines in one container to reduce the freight cost per tonne, and agree the shipment schedule with your project calendar. A Russian-speaking sales team follows your order from specification to customs clearance, prepares the transit documentation for rail corridors, and coordinates with your forwarding agent at the destination. For regular buyers we offer scheduled programs with fixed prices for the contract period, protecting your project budget from market volatility.
Packaging and Loading
Rebar is packed in bundles of 2-5 tonnes with steel strapping, labeled with the grade, diameter, length and weight. Bundles are loaded into containers (for diameters up to 12 mm) or open-top containers and flat racks (for larger diameters), with a calculated loading plan. Cut and bent rebar is delivered per the project schedule. The documentation – MTC per EN 10204 3.1 with GOST 34028 certificate, ST-1 certificate, invoice and packing list – is prepared for customs clearance.
The Rebar Market in Russia and Central Asia
Russia is one of the largest rebar markets in the world, with consumption driven by residential construction, infrastructure and precast production. The federal housing programs and the development of transport infrastructure support steady demand. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, with active construction sectors, import rebar for large projects. Because domestic rebar production covers standard grades but not always the full diameter range or peak seasonal demand, the market imports from China. Sino East Steel supplies rebar per GOST 34028 with the full test documentation that construction supervision in the EAEU requires, and supports project supply with scheduled deliveries.
How to Choose the Right Rebar
Select the grade by the design code: for Russian and EAEU projects specify A500C (weldable, general construction) per GOST 34028; for international specifications use A615 Gr.60 or HRB400/HRB500. Choose the diameter by the structural design – 6-12 mm for distribution and stirrups, 12-25 mm for beams and columns, 25-40 mm for heavy foundations and precast. Confirm whether the bars will be welded (carbon equivalent matters) or lapped. Order cut and bent bars for complex projects to reduce site waste. Confirm the certificate format and the test report scope with your construction supervision before ordering.
Why Buy Rebar Direct from the Factory
Sino East Steel supplies rebar from partner mills with full GOST 34028 certification, eliminating the risk of non-compliant material that fails construction supervision. Factory-direct pricing and consolidated shipments reduce the landed cost for contractors and trading companies. Our team prepares the complete documentation – MTC, test reports, ST-1 certificate – for EAEU customs clearance, and supports project schedules with scheduled deliveries.
