Grades, Standards and GOST Equivalents
Galvanized coil is supplied to ASTM A653 (CS, FS, SS grades), EN 10346 (DX51D, DX52D, S320-S550), JIS G3302 and GB/T 2518. For the Russian market the reference standards are GOST 14918 for zinc-coated sheet and GOST 52146 for polymer-coated, and we prepare certificates cross-referencing DX51D with the GOST grade series. Coating options include zinc Z40-Z275, Galvalume AZ50-AZ185, and specialty surfaces: zero spangle for painted applications, mini spangle for decorative use, and full-hard temper for pipe and profile manufacturing. Widths from 600 to 1,250 mm are available in coil or cut-to-length sheet, with slit coils in custom widths for lathing and profiles. The combination of grade, coating and temper is selected to match the customer’s forming process and service environment.
Manufacturing Process
Galvanized coil is produced on a continuous hot-dip galvanizing line: cold-rolled or pickled hot-rolled coil is unwound, cleaned in an alkaline bath, annealed in a controlled-atmosphere furnace, and passed through a bath of molten zinc at about 460 C. Air knives above the bath control the coating thickness across the strip, and the strip is then cooled, skin-passed for flatness and surface, and recoiled. The line at our Tianjin plant processes widths from 600 to 1,250 mm and thicknesses from 0.15 to 3.0 mm, with zinc coating from Z40 to Z275 (40-275 g/m2) in regular, minimized or zero spangle finish. Galvalume (AZ) coil is produced on a separate line with an aluminum-zinc bath (55% Al, 43.5% Zn) giving 2-4 times the corrosion resistance of conventional galvanized coating in atmospheric service. Each coil is tested for coating weight, adhesion (bend test), surface quality and mechanical properties, with the MTC issued per ASTM A653 or EN 10346.
Applications
- Roofing sheets and corrugated profiles
- Ducting, casings and enclosures
- Cold-formed sections and purlins
- Appliances and visible panels
- Agricultural buildings and silos
Applications in Russia and Central Asia
Galvanized coil is the raw material for a wide range of regional industries. Roofing sheet producers across Russia and Kazakhstan use Z200-Z275 coil for corrugated and standing-seam profiles, where the heavy coating resists the snow, ice and UV exposure of continental winters. Duct makers and HVAC contractors use DX51D for ventilation systems. The construction sector converts coil into purlins, lathing, profiles and sandwich-panel facings. Appliance manufacturers and the automotive supply chain use zero-spangle and mini-spangle coil for visible panels. In Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the growing metal-forming sector imports galvanized coil to produce roofing, fencing and building components locally, and the pre-painted segment (PPGI) starts from galvanized substrate produced to the tightest flatness and surface tolerances.
Quality Control and Testing
Every production stage at the Sino East Steel plant is controlled under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Depending on the product, each batch is tested for chemical composition and mechanical properties (yield strength, tensile strength, elongation), dimensional accuracy, surface quality and, where applicable, hydrostatic pressure, weld seam integrity, zinc coating thickness and paint adhesion. All testing is performed in our laboratory and, when the project requires, witnessed by independent inspectors from SGS, Bureau Veritas or TUV Rheinland. Each shipment is accompanied by a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) per EN 10204 3.1 with heat numbers, so every tonne can be traced back to its production date, heat and chemical analysis. This documentation is prepared in a form accepted by customs authorities in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Belarus, and can be adapted to GOST-based reporting when the buyer’s quality department requires it.
Documents and Compliance for Russia and the EAEU
All goods are supplied with a complete export documentation set prepared for smooth customs clearance in the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Union: Mill Test Certificate (MTC) per EN 10204 3.1 with heat numbers and chemical analysis, Certificate of Origin form ST-1 (which qualifies for duty-free import within the EAEU), commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading or railway consignment note. Where the project is subject to the EAEU Technical Regulations, we support the EAC certification process and provide the technical passport, test reports and conformity documentation required by the importing party. For products supplied against Russian design standards we prepare documentation referencing the relevant GOST equivalents (for example GOST 3262 for galvanized pipe, GOST 8732 for seamless pipe, GOST 30245 for hollow sections), so your quality department and the customs broker receive everything on the day the vessel or train arrives.
Logistics to Russia and Central Asia
Sea freight from Tianjin and Xingang ports to St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Vladivostok and the Baltic ports takes 30-45 days, with container and break-bulk options for project volumes. For Central Asia we ship container rail trains via the Dostyk and Khorgos border crossings to Almaty, Astana, Tashkent, Samarkand, Bishkek, Osh, Dushanbe and Ashgabat in 25-40 days. We quote on FOB Tianjin/Xingang, CFR, CIF, or DAP terms to your warehouse, consolidate several product lines in one container to reduce the freight cost per tonne, and agree the shipment schedule with your project calendar. A Russian-speaking sales team follows your order from specification to customs clearance, prepares the transit documentation for rail corridors, and coordinates with your forwarding agent at the destination. For regular buyers we offer scheduled programs with fixed prices for the contract period, protecting your project budget from market volatility.
Packaging and Loading
Coils are packed on steel pallets or in eye-to-the-sky or eye-to-the-side orientation per the customer’s handling equipment, with waterproof wrapping, edge protectors and steel strapping through the bore and across the outer wraps. Each coil carries a label with the grade, coating, dimensions, coil number and weight, matching the MTC and packing list. Coils are loaded into containers on cradles or pallets with dunnage to prevent shifting, and cut sheets are packed in steel-strapped bundles on pallets with waterproof paper. The documentation set – MTC per EN 10204 3.1 with GOST 14918 cross-reference, ST-1 certificate, invoice and packing list – is prepared for EAEU customs clearance.
The Coil Market in Russia and Central Asia
Russia is one of the largest consumers of galvanized coil in Europe, with demand driven by construction, roofing production and the automotive sector. The federal programs for housing and infrastructure, plus the renovation of industrial facilities, support steady consumption of Z200-Z275 grades. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, which are building domestic metal-forming capacity, import coil for roofing, profiles and container manufacturing. Because domestic production does not cover the full grade and coating range, importers and processors rely on Chinese supply for DX51D, zero-spangle and Galvalume coil. Sino East Steel supplies coil directly to roofing plants, steel service centers and processors across the EAEU, with the coating and temper consistency that high-speed forming lines require.
How to Choose the Right Galvanized Coil
Match the coating weight to the service life: Z100-Z140 for indoor and short-life applications, Z180-Z200 for general building products, and Z220-Z275 for roofing and outdoor structures in cold or coastal climates. Choose the temper by the forming process: soft (annealed) for deep drawing and profiling, full-hard for pipe and lathing where forming is light. For visible painted products specify zero or mini spangle; for structural sections use SS or S320-S550 high-strength grades. If the coil will be pre-painted, confirm the flatness and surface requirements with your coating line. Galvalume AZ150+ offers longer life than zinc for the same thickness in atmospheric exposure. Confirm the coil dimensions (width, inner diameter 508/610 mm) with your uncoiler before ordering.
Why Buy Galvanized Coil Direct from the Factory
Sino East Steel operates its own hot-dip galvanizing line with precise air-knife control, so coating weight and surface consistency are set at the mill, not by a third party. Factory-direct pricing, the ability to combine several grades and coatings in one shipment, and the ST-1 certificate for duty-free EAEU import reduce the landed cost for processors and distributors. Our team prepares the MTC with GOST 14918 cross-reference and supports trial coils so your forming line can validate the material before volume orders.
How to Order
Ordering is straightforward: (1) send your specification – standard, grade, size range, quantity, destination city or port and required documents; (2) our engineers confirm the correct grade and size, check GOST equivalents if needed and issue a firm offer within 24 hours; (3) after confirmation we book production on the corresponding line (15-25 days for standard items); (4) we arrange independent inspection if required and load the container or vessel with a full packing list; (5) you receive the MTC, ST-1, invoice and shipping documents by email on the day of departure, and our team tracks the cargo until it reaches your warehouse.
