GOST 3262-75 Dimensions and Weight Chart — DN6 to DN150

The table below is the complete GOST 3262-75 sortament: nominal bore (DN), outside diameter, wall thickness for all three series (light / ordinary / reinforced), and theoretical weight per metre. Use it to specify pipe precisely — under GOST 3262-75 the wall-thickness series is part of the pipe designation, and it changes both the weight and the pressure rating of the pipe you receive.

Notes on the chart: theoretical weight is calculated from nominal dimensions at a steel density of 7,850 kg/m³ and is a reference value — GOST 3262-75 allows a mass tolerance of ±8%. Galvanized pipe is 3% heavier than black pipe of the same size. Standard lengths are 4–12 m, measured or unmeasured. Hydraulic test pressure is 2.4 MPa (24 kgf/cm²) for light and ordinary pipe and 3.1 MPa (32 kgf/cm²) for reinforced pipe. Steel grades are supplied per GOST 380 and GOST 1050 (08ps, 08kp, 10, 15, 20, St1–St3).

Light, Ordinary or Reinforced — Which Series to Specify

The three wall-thickness series exist because the same nominal bore serves different duties. Light pipe uses the thinnest wall and is intended for low-pressure systems and non-critical plumbing where weight matters — it is the cheapest per metre. Ordinary pipe is the standard choice for water and gas distribution, heating risers and most plumbing work; it is the most widely ordered series in Russia and Central Asia. Reinforced pipe carries the thickest wall and the higher test pressure (3.1 MPa), and is specified for high-pressure lines, threaded connections under load, gas lines and industrial piping where the extra wall thickness is part of the safety margin. When you place an order, state the series in the designation — for example “DN20 × 2.8 ordinary, galvanized” — because the three series differ in weight per metre by up to 45%.

Galvanized vs Black Pipe: Weight, Diameter and Coating

Hot-dip galvanizing does not change the outside diameter or the wall thickness of the pipe — it adds a zinc layer on both surfaces, and per GOST 3262-75 galvanized pipe weighs 3% more than black pipe of the same size. For DN20 ordinary (1.66 kg/m black), the galvanized version therefore runs at about 1.71 kg/m. This matters in two places: when you calculate container payload for a fixed tonnage order, and when a project specifies steel weight rather than metres. For our own supply we hot-dip galvanize to ISO 1461 with a coating of 70–85 µm (500–600 g/m²), which is the range that holds up in Russian and Central Asian outdoor service for 10–15 years. If your specification quotes zinc coating by weight, ISO 1461 lets us certify it as g/m² in the mill test certificate.

Grades, Standards and GOST Equivalents

Galvanized pipe is supplied to ASTM A53 Grade B, BS 1387 (Class A/B/C), EN 10219, GB/T 3091 and GOST 3262. For Russian and EAEU projects the standard reference is GOST 3262, which covers water and gas pipes in steel grades St1-St3 with the same dimensions as the international series – DN15 to DN150 in 6 m lengths. We map international grades to the GOST series and supply certificates referencing both standards, which avoids delays at customs and satisfies the buyer’s quality department. Coating options include 170-220 g/m2 for general service, 220-350 g/m2 for water supply and outdoor use, and 400-500 g/m2 for aggressive or coastal environments, with spangle-free surface available for visible installations. Ends are supplied plain, bevelled, threaded with coupling (NPT or BSP) or grooved per the project requirement.

Manufacturing Process

Galvanized pipe is produced at the Tianjin plant in two ways. Pre-galvanized pipe is formed and welded from galvanized coil on a continuous ERW line, giving a thin, uniform coating inside and out – ideal for indoor and light structural use. Hot-dip galvanized pipe (HDG) starts as black welded pipe, which is pickled, fluxed and dipped into a bath of molten zinc at about 450 C, forming a metallurgically bonded coating 45-120 microns thick (zinc weight 170-350 g/m2 and up to 500 g/m2 on request). The HDG line processes pipes from 1/2 to 12 inches with automatic control of immersion time and withdrawal speed, which determines coating thickness and surface quality. After galvanizing, each pipe is inspected for coating continuity, threaded or grooved as required, and hydrostatically tested. The zinc coating is verified by thickness gauging and, for critical orders, by laboratory testing per ISO 1461.

Applications

  • Water supply and distribution networks in Russia, Kazakhstan and Central Asia
  • Construction, scaffolding and structural supports
  • Fencing, gates, handrails and balustrades
  • Greenhouses, irrigation and agricultural projects
  • Fire protection (sprinkler) and HVAC systems

Applications in Russia and Central Asia

Galvanized pipe is one of the most widely stocked steel products in the region. Housing and utility companies across Russia use GOST 3262 galvanized pipe for hot and cold water risers, heating risers and gas distribution inside buildings, where the zinc layer protects the pipe from internal corrosion and condensate. In Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, where water chemistry is often aggressive, HDG pipe with 300+ g/m2 coating is specified for rural water supply schemes and irrigation pumping stations. Construction companies buy galvanized scaffolding tube and structural pipe for facades and temporary works, while agricultural holdings use it for greenhouses, irrigation and livestock buildings. The fire protection sector specifies galvanized SCH40 pipe for sprinkler systems in shopping centers and industrial facilities, with grooved ends for fast mechanical installation.

Quality Control and Testing

Every production stage at the Sino East Steel plant is controlled under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Depending on the product, each batch is tested for chemical composition and mechanical properties (yield strength, tensile strength, elongation), dimensional accuracy, surface quality and, where applicable, hydrostatic pressure, weld seam integrity, zinc coating thickness and paint adhesion. All testing is performed in our laboratory and, when the project requires, witnessed by independent inspectors from SGS, Bureau Veritas or TUV Rheinland. Each shipment is accompanied by a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) per EN 10204 3.1 with heat numbers, so every tonne can be traced back to its production date, heat and chemical analysis. This documentation is prepared in a form accepted by customs authorities in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Belarus, and can be adapted to GOST-based reporting when the buyer’s quality department requires it.

Documents and Compliance for Russia and the EAEU

All goods are supplied with a complete export documentation set prepared for smooth customs clearance in the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Union: Mill Test Certificate (MTC) per EN 10204 3.1 with heat numbers and chemical analysis, Certificate of Origin form ST-1 (which qualifies for duty-free import within the EAEU), commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading or railway consignment note. Where the project is subject to the EAEU Technical Regulations, we support the EAC certification process and provide the technical passport, test reports and conformity documentation required by the importing party. For products supplied against Russian design standards we prepare documentation referencing the relevant GOST equivalents (for example GOST 3262 for galvanized pipe, GOST 8732 for seamless pipe, GOST 30245 for hollow sections), so your quality department and the customs broker receive everything on the day the vessel or train arrives.

Logistics to Russia and Central Asia

Sea freight from Tianjin and Xingang ports to St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Vladivostok and the Baltic ports takes 30-45 days, with container and break-bulk options for project volumes. For Central Asia we ship container rail trains via the Dostyk and Khorgos border crossings to Almaty, Astana, Tashkent, Samarkand, Bishkek, Osh, Dushanbe and Ashgabat in 25-40 days. We quote on FOB Tianjin/Xingang, CFR, CIF, or DAP terms to your warehouse, consolidate several product lines in one container to reduce the freight cost per tonne, and agree the shipment schedule with your project calendar. A Russian-speaking sales team follows your order from specification to customs clearance, prepares the transit documentation for rail corridors, and coordinates with your forwarding agent at the destination. For regular buyers we offer scheduled programs with fixed prices for the contract period, protecting your project budget from market volatility.

Packaging and Loading

Galvanized pipe is packed in hexagonal bundles with steel strapping and plastic end caps on threaded pipes to protect the threads. Each bundle is labeled with the standard, grade, DN, wall thickness, zinc coating weight and length, and bundles are loaded into containers with a calculated stowage plan per diameter. Threaded and coupled pipe is packed with the coupling fitted and thread protectors on both ends. For coastal destinations we use waterproof wrapping on the ends to prevent white rust during the sea voyage to Novorossiysk or St. Petersburg, and each container is stuffed with the packing list visible at the door for fast customs inspection.

The Russian and Central Asian Market for Galvanized Pipe

Demand for galvanized pipe in Russia and Central Asia comes from three sectors: housing and utility networks, construction, and agriculture. The renovation of Soviet-era water and heating networks in Russian cities creates steady demand for GOST 3262 pipe, while new construction in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the million-plus cities drives the structural and scaffolding segment. In Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, state programs for rural water supply and irrigation modernization are major consumers, and the growing greenhouse sector in all five Central Asian countries uses pre-galvanized pipe in large volumes. Because domestic production in the region does not cover peak demand, importers and distributors rely on stable Chinese supply, and Sino East Steel’s Tianjin plant – with its own ERW and HDG lines – supplies directly to trading houses and project contractors across the EAEU.

How to Choose the Right Galvanized Pipe

Start with the service environment. For internal water and heating systems choose GOST 3262 or BS 1387 medium class with 170-250 g/m2 coating; for external structures, water mains and coastal areas specify 300-500 g/m2 and, if the pipe will be welded in the field, order black pipe and galvanize after welding, because the zinc layer burns off at the weld. For fire sprinkler systems select SCH40 with grooved ends. For scaffolding and structural use choose the EN 39 or ASTM A53 series in 48.3 mm and larger diameters. If threads are needed, confirm whether the project uses NPT or BSP; our standard is NPT with couplings, and BSP is available on request. Finally, confirm the certificate format – we supply MTC per EN 10204 3.1 with GOST 3262 cross-reference so the batch clears customs without additional testing.

Why Buy Galvanized Pipe Direct from the Factory

As a producer with in-house ERW and hot-dip galvanizing lines, Sino East Steel controls coating quality from the coil to the finished pipe – the zinc thickness is set on our line, not by a third-party processor, which means consistent coating and no rework. Factory-direct pricing removes trading margins, and because we supply all EAEU markets regularly, we prepare the GOST 3262 documentation and ST-1 certificate automatically with every shipment. Combined orders of several diameters and lengths are consolidated into single containers, reducing the freight cost per tonne, and our Russian-speaking team handles the entire process from specification to delivery at your warehouse.

How to Order

Ordering is straightforward: (1) send your specification – standard, grade, size range, quantity, destination city or port and required documents; (2) our engineers confirm the correct grade and size, check GOST equivalents if needed and issue a firm offer within 24 hours; (3) after confirmation we book production on the corresponding line (15-25 days for standard items); (4) we arrange independent inspection if required and load the container or vessel with a full packing list; (5) you receive the MTC, ST-1, invoice and shipping documents by email on the day of departure, and our team tracks the cargo until it reaches your warehouse. Frequently Asked Questions

What zinc coating weight should I specify?

For general construction and indoor use 170-250 g/m2 is standard; for coastal areas, water supply and exposed outdoor structures we recommend 350-500 g/m2 per ISO 1461.

What is the outside diameter of DN15 and DN20 pipe per GOST 3262-75?

Per GOST 3262-75 the outside diameter is 21.3 mm for DN15 (1/2″) and 26.8 mm for DN20 (3/4″). Wall thickness for both sizes is 2.5 mm in the light series, 2.8 mm in the ordinary series and 3.2 mm in the reinforced series. Because the nominal bore is a designation rather than a measurement, DN15 pipe never has a 15 mm outside diameter — the actual outside diameter is 21.3 mm.

How much does one metre of GOST 3262-75 pipe weigh?

Theoretical weight runs from 0.37 kg/m (DN6 light) to 21.63 kg/m (DN150 reinforced). For the most common sizes: DN15 ordinary is 1.28 kg/m, DN20 ordinary is 1.66 kg/m, DN25 ordinary is 2.39 kg/m, DN50 ordinary is 4.88 kg/m and DN100 ordinary is 12.15 kg/m. Galvanized pipe is 3% heavier than these values, and GOST 3262-75 permits a mass tolerance of ±8%.

Does galvanizing change the outside diameter or the weight of the pipe?

Galvanizing does not change the outside diameter or the wall thickness — the zinc layer is only 70–85 µm thick, far below the ±0.4 mm diameter tolerance of the standard. It does change the weight: per GOST 3262-75 galvanized pipe is 3% heavier than black pipe of the same size, which matters when you calculate container payload or order by tonnage rather than by metre.

Can you supply DN15 and DN20 pipe with the reinforced wall thickness?

Yes. We produce the full GOST 3262-75 range from DN6 to DN150 in all three wall-thickness series, black or hot-dip galvanized per ISO 1461, with threaded or plain ends. DN15 and DN20 in the reinforced series are a regular production item, and the mill test certificate per EN 10204 3.1 states the actual wall thickness and zinc coating weight for each batch. Send the size, series and quantity through the quote form below and we will confirm price and lead time within 24 hours.

Can you supply threaded or grooved ends?

Yes, plain, threaded with coupling (NPT) and grooved ends are all available. Specify the requirement in your inquiry.

What is the minimum order quantity?

25 t per size. First orders can be combined with a trial container of several product lines so you can validate the material and the documentation before volume orders.

What sizes and standards are available?

We supply 15-150 mm (DN), 6 m per GOST 3262, ISO 1461 in grades St1-St3, with HDG, zinc 170-350 g/m2. If your project is designed to a GOST standard, we confirm the grade mapping and prepare the certificate accordingly.

How long does production and delivery take?

Production takes 15-25 days after specification confirmation. Sea freight to St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk and the Baltic ports takes 30-45 days; rail container delivery to Almaty, Tashkent, Bishkek and Dushanbe via the Dostyk and Khorgos crossings takes 25-40 days.
