PPGI (pre-painted galvanized iron) coils are the base material for roofing sheets, sandwich panels, facades and profiled steel in Russia and Central Asia. Because the coating system and the substrate determine the service life of the finished panel, choosing the right PPGI supplier is a technical decision, not just a price comparison. This guide covers coating systems (PE, SMP, PVDF), RAL colors, substrate grades, coil parameters and direct factory supply to Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

PPGI coil production at Sino East Steel, Tianjin — PE/SMP/PVDF lines, all RAL colors, thickness 0.15–1.2 mm.
Coating systems: what your panels will actually be exposed to
The paint system determines how the coil behaves outdoors. Polyester (PE) is the economical standard for roofing and walls in moderate climates — a 15–25 µm film with good gloss and color retention for 5–8 years. SMP (silicon modified polyester) adds durability and color stability, recommended for industrial roofs and areas with stronger UV load. PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride, 25–27 µm, Kynar 500 grade) provides maximum service life — 20+ years in coastal and aggressive environments — and is specified for premium projects. For two-sided coating (a protective back coat on the reverse), HDPE coils are used for panels where the reverse side is exposed.
Substrate: galvanized base and zinc class
The substrate is hot-dip galvanized steel with a zinc class that must match the environment. DX51D+Z is the standard grade for general forming and roofing. For structural and load-bearing profiles, DX52D and higher yield grades are used. Zinc class Z80–Z120 suits interior panels; Z180–Z275 is specified for roofing in Russia’s climate — snow load, temperature cycling and condensation make heavier zinc classes the safer choice. The paint is only as good as the zinc it protects: with an insufficient zinc class, corrosion creeps under the film at cut edges and drill holes within months.
Coil parameters that affect your line
Check thickness (0.15–1.2 mm), width (600–1250 mm), coil weight (3–15 tonnes) and the inner diameter that matches your uncoiler. Tolerances follow EN 10169; flatness and surface quality must be documented. For roofing producers, consistency from coil to coil matters more than the first coil’s price — a reliable supplier ships coils with identical coating and color batch data, so your production does not stop for re-setup. Wood-grain and embossed finishes are available for architectural applications.
Color and gloss: what the specification actually means
All RAL colors are available, with 3005 (wine red), 5005 (blue), 6005 (green), 7016 (anthracite) and 8017 (brown) the most ordered for roofing in Russia and Central Asia. Specify the RAL number, gloss level (typically 30–70% for roofing) and whether a reverse coat is required. Color difference between batches is controlled per EN 10169 — request the batch data sheet with your order confirmation to avoid visible panel mismatch on one roof.
MOQ, pricing and direct factory supply
MOQ is typically 25 tonnes per color and thickness. Distributors consolidate several colors and sizes in one container. Payment: T/T, L/C at sight or D/P. Direct factory supply means the coil leaves the production line to your container without intermediaries — the price reflects the factory cost, and batch traceability (heat number, zinc class, coating batch) is documented in the EN 10204 3.1 certificate. Supply programs with fixed prices are available for regular buyers.
Delivery to Russia and Central Asia
Sea freight to St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Vladivostok and Baltic ports takes 30–45 days; rail container trains through Dostyk and Khorgos reach Almaty, Tashkent and Bishkek in 25–40 days. Coils are packed with steel strapping, edge protection and moisture-resistant wrapping; each coil is marked with standard, grade, zinc class, coating and coil number for clear receiving.
Frequently asked questions
Which coating system should I choose for roofing in Russia?
For standard industrial roofing, PE is the economical choice; for facades, high-UV areas and premium projects, SMP or PVDF is recommended. Coastal and aggressive environments call for PVDF with Z220–Z275 substrate.
Can you supply coils in any RAL color?
Yes. All RAL colors are available, including 3005, 5005, 6005, 7016 and 8017. Wood-grain and embossed finishes are produced on request.
What documents accompany a PPGI coil shipment?
EN 10204 3.1 mill certificate, certificate of origin (form ST-1), commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading. Coating and color batch data are provided with the order confirmation.
What is the minimum order for a trial of a new color?
Trial quantities of one coil (3–15 tonnes) can be arranged for new colors so your production line can validate the material before a full container order.
